pumpkin carving

i did alittle pumpkin carving today. it didnt turn out as well as i would have liked but at least you can tell what it is. did anyone else's pumpkin seem more stringy on the inside this year? i dont remember that being the case last time i did this.
audrey was my photographer so we ended up with over 60 pictures, not all of the pumpkin, some of the cats, my husband, the refrigerator. but thats what happens when you hand a camera to a 5 year old. i think she did pretty good.

pumpkin patch

we went to the pumpkin patch today with our mommy group. it was a small one that a local church does and it was fun. its great to see how pumpkins are so fun for kids to look at and explore.
we attended the storytime which was ok and then each kid got a small pumpkin and we brought things for the kids to decorate them with.
here are some pictures:

books im reading

one of my friends told me to read a series of books - the a.d. chronicles by bodie and brock thoene. i found them at my local library and im already on book number 6. at first look i was alittle skeptical from the cheesy artwork on the front. my husband and i even had a good laugh over it. i was also skeptical because some christian artists cant write and the only way they get books published is because they are christian.
but i have can honestly say these books are amazing!! and everyone should read them. they are set back in the time when Jesus was on the earth. the authors have skillfully fleshed out some of the characters from the various bible stories, for example: the man that was blind and Jesus made mud to heal his eyes or the boy that was demon possessed and had thrown himself in the fire. its funny how i have read those bible stories countless times but i have never thought about how those people had real lives before they met Jesus. these books make me want to dig in dipper to my bible.
i will have to admit you can predict some of whats coming because of knowing bible stories and sometimes you know that horrible things will happen but these books are still so great. go and read them!!

a week ago we went to the zoo with the mommy group from our church. it was fun and i think we may ask for zoo memberships for christmas. that is definitely a place i want to spend more time at.

oh miles

yep, that's my son "helping" with the laundry. he had just pulled the basket down on top of himself. all i can say is, "what a boy?!"

being neighborly

our pastor at our church recently was talking about loving our neighbors. so we got an assignment at our small group to reach out to our neighbors, the 5 that are directly around you. we were to take them cookies and introduce ourselves. normally i would have been peeved that we were forced to do this, but i have been wanting to do this for some time now and just needed a shove.
ill be perfectly honest with you, i am scared of my neighbors. i am totally the kind of person that drives into the garage and just wants people to leave me alone. we have had some interesting situations with neighbors in the past (possible attempt at stealing our lawnmower, miscommunications about yard work, language barrier, loud parties, etc.) but after venturing out last night i realized something. our neighbors are just people, people that have the same needs and wants i do, like wanting to protect and nurture their families in whatever way they think is the best. so it was good for me and we actually got to find out the names of one of our neighbors, the others did not divulge that information. so thank you formerly old couple, we now know you are jim and betty. :)
