something for audrey's room...

this is what i made for audrey's room yesterday. i painted it brown to go with the trim in her room and then i hot glued the ribbons on the back. i had a wooden flower and i cut out fabric (that will one day be in the quilt i will make audrey) and glued that onto the wood and then onto the letter. i love it and think it turned out great. audrey likes it too and always wants to go in her room to see her letter. and its so nice not to have bows and barrettes thrown in a drawer.

what a rollercoaster...

well the last couple of weeks have been a rollercoaster for my family.
it all started when my aunt and uncle offered for us to buy their house when they move in june, provided that their church would not buy it for the new priest. well things were moving along looking like the church would buy the house until march 4. that day the church called my aunt and told her they didnt want the house.
so it was up for grabs. i had been praying that if the house was for us we would get it. so my husband and i started looking into what we would have to do to sell our house to be able to buy their house.
to make a long story short after seeing the reality of what selling our house would be like and the money we would need to move and buy my aunt and uncles house we feel that God is telling us to stay in our house.
but i can honestly say that we now have the motivation to make our house better. so we started on monday with the help of family and have been working hard. our yard is looking TONS better. we trimmed trees and bushes, removed trash and brush that had accumulated, fixed our garage door and even ended up buying a new stove/oven. i wish i had taken some before and after pictures.
we still have tons to do but at least getting that much done is great.

celebrating purim...

we celebrated purim with our small group from church last nite. if you dont know what purim is - it is a celebration of queen esther from the bible. in a typical celebration you: have lots of food, dress up in costume, give to charity and read the story of queen esther.
our celebration included all those things. the kids looked so cute in their costumes. for audrey's i just put her in a dress with a purple tutu over it and her purple pointed hat. she kind of looked like a gnome with that hat, but the cutest gnome youve ever seen. :)
thanx josephine for throwing this party for your daughter's namesake.

recalled crib...

so we made the decision to move a twin matress and box springs into my daughter's room just to get her accostumed to it being in there. but the very next day i was reading in a parenting magazine and scanning through the recall article when i saw my daughter's crib. so i did some research and it was her crib.
so needless to say i jumped into the idea of my daughter sleeping in a big girl bed. and she has done great. i think the whole emphasizing of the idea "we stay in the big girl bed" worked, or maybe it was because i told her about a million times. she has successfully been sleeping and staying in her big girl bed for the last month. hurray!
and now we finally got rid of the crib and got our money back. it wasnt really as hard as i thought it would be. luckily we still had the box and the barcode was still there so they could scan it. and taking the crib apart and loading it into a cart wasnt too difficult.
im so glad that thing is gone. it never really was all that great. while putting it together part of the trim on the top came loose and one of the wheels broke. not to mention that we went through 2 drop sides because the first one cracked and the second one had a slat break. so the lesson in all this - dont buy cheap cribs for your baby without doing some research. im just thankful that audrey was never hurt in the crib. thank you God.
now our daughter asks "where is my crib?" and then promptly answers herself "at target."
