easter eggs

we dyed some easter eggs today. i even had miles help (alittle).
audrey loved adding the glitter, glue, beads and sequins.

miles got pretty excited and started banging them together.
and this is how i found miles this morning, with his baseball cap already on. he was ready for the day.

quilt in the making and painting with water

i am making a quilt for miles and i sewed a "road" onto it. i let him play with it for awhile. he seemed to like it and then he cuddled in it. so cute.

i also tried some painting with water with miles. he was not impressed and liked to try and lick the water off the brush more than he liked the painting process.

easter advent eggs

last year i made easter "advent" eggs. we use them to tell the story of Jesus' life ending with the resurrection on easter. i put small objects in them or have them near if the object is too big to go with each bible story.
egg 1 - Jesus' birth (spell Jesus' name with playdough)
egg 2 - shepherds seeing angels and then Jesus (stars because Jesus is the light of the world)
egg 3 - Jesus' baptism (dove sticker)
egg 4 - Jesus calming storm (toy boat)
egg 5 - Jesus feeding 5,000 (cracker)
egg 6 - Zachaeus (candy to share with others)
egg 7 - Jesus is our shepherd (sheep)
egg 8 - blind man healed (blindfold)
egg 9 - mary magdalene (perfume or essential oil)
egg 10 - servant king, washing feet (crown and travel soap)
egg 11 - arrest and death (cross sticker)
egg 12 - empty tomb (empty egg)
after we do the last egg i give the kids their easter baskets.

crafts and chores

audrey and i did another craft today. she wanted to pretend like we were on noodle and doodle (a craft and cooking show on sprout). on the show some kids need help with a craft and a snack and the host drives his bus to help them and does some awesome crafts and snacks. i love this show.
anyway, audrey wanted to do butterflies so we made a butterfly snack (cereal and dried cranberries mixed in a ziploc with a decorated clothes pin pinching it in the middle) and then a tube butterfly craft.

the chore chart i made awhile back but forgot to blog about. i love the fact that i dont have to write and rewrite this for myself. i saw it on another blog (crafterhoursblog.com)

whirlwind of a boy

miles is becoming more and more of a whirlwind, but honestly thats very good that his development is pretty much age-appropriate. he was playing ball when i took these pictures and had put on his train hat himself. i love that he likes to wear hats.

easter crafts

audrey and i took advantage of spring break and made some easter crafts. the first was like paper snowflakes but starting with an egg shape.
the second was a garland with plastic eggs decorated to look like chicks and bunnies. audrey did the bunny faces. i think they both turned out really cute. i got the ideas from my family fun magazine, i love that thing.

and here is just a cute picture of the kids playing outside today.

happy birthday dr. seuss

our public library hosted a birthday party for dr. seuss today. they had crafts, cupcakes for the kids to decorate, a photobooth, reading nook, puppet show and they showed "the sneetches" in the planetarium. it was fun and free, my favorite.
heres some pictures: audrey with her thing 1 handprint picture.

audrey with the photobooth picture.
the kids even got to meet cat in the hat and he helped miles get his shoe back on.
