miles is 2!!

i am so thankful for miles and glad that God chose him for our family.
my wonderful, adorable, joyful boy is now 2. i can hardly believe it. he is such a boy now - walking as fast as he can, getting into everything, wrestling with his sister and trying to climb on stuff. he is also coloring and can pick up his toys and put them away (when he wants to). he has moved up to the next level sunday school at church (18-24 months) and also in his class at childcare (18 months - 3 years). He is doing very well with the added challenges and funner toys.
miles still loves to play with balls and is getting into pushing cars.

miles' health has been good, just the usual colds and allergies of the season. he did have a low white blood cell count last july but we went to the hematologist a week later and it was already coming up quite quickly  and his cells looked normal under the microscope (kids with down syndrome have a slightly higher risk of leukemia).
we have had some trouble with his eating. he used to eat quite a variety of foods and even ate some of our foods like: chili, stir fry, meatloaf. when he began teething he didnt want the textures so we let him go back to baby food. now he seems to have just a few things on his preferred list and will refuse anything else. i have battled him by holding both his arms and mouth shut, its not fun and not productive. so to make a long story short we are working with some of this therapists and his pediatrician to get him back on normal foods. thats why in the picture he looks so thrilled with his frosted ritz crackers. ritz crackers are on his preferred list but frosting is not. (although today i did get him to eat lunchmeat for lunch, YEAH!! we have some progress, thank you Lord!)

necklace and shirt

heres another necklace i made. i just attached the strung beads to a gold chain.
and heres a shirt i attempted to ombre dye. i wish it had more of a gradual shift in color but i still like it.

making stuff at joanns

joanns has been hosting make and takes for kids. so for mothers day and fathers day i decided to take audrey. for mothers day she made a clay cupcake magnet, for fathers day a picture frame.

it was a pretty basic craft but audrey enjoyed going and it was free.

sports muffins

audrey and i made cupcakes today, well they were really blueberry muffins with cream cheese frosting. i thought maybe miles would eat them, but he did not. they were to celebrate miles and my dads birthdays. we decorated them to look like basketballs and baseballs since miles loves to play with balls. they turned out yummy.

audrey at build and grow

audrey is now going to the lowes program build and grow. my husband is taking her and last sunday this is what she made. its a monkey plane (madgascar 3 funded the project). i think it is so cool that she is getting to do this.
she is also going to the library's booktivity events. the librarian reads a book and then they make crafts to go along with it. this week was super heroes and here she is with her wonder woman cuffs. she is having such a fun summer already.

my boys is signing

after what seems like forever miles has decided that signing is a good idea. he can sign more (which he is doing in the picture), eat and wave bye. yeah for progress.

another necklace and a new dress

i made another necklace. i have been looking for just the right blue medallion to wear as a pendant for a few weeks and i found nothing. and now i know why i couldnt find it because the other day i found this at the boutique (like a thrift store for missionaries - im a missionary kid) and it was a belt buckle. i cut the belt off, it was not in good shape anyway, and took off some of the hardware in the back with pliers and then attached my bronze chain. hurray!!
and heres my new dress from target. i love it. its made of knit jersey and its so comfortable. i cant wait to style it in numerous ways.

i've turned to the dark side

i now own a pair of crocs. i used to say that i would never have those ugly gardening shoes. and now i do (of course in a way better style) and i love them. my parents got them for me for my birthday (thanks mom and dad). they are the adrina flats if you are curious and want some of your own.

making some necklaces

ive been making some necklaces lately.

paper butterflies

audrey and i made paper butterflies the other day. we used scrapbook paper, i would not suggest it. it was hard to fold and tended to rip easy when i tried to open up the accordian folds for the wings. audrey learned that sometimes you just have to laugh or cry (she cried, i laughed) when things rip. and tape soon mended the wings. i think they turned out pretty.
